What this calculator does

Distance, time, and pace are three views of the same run: fix any two and the third is decided. This page does that arithmetic and then shows what it means for the run itself, what each kilometer has to come in at, what a slightly different effort would cost you, and which paces correspond to which kind of training.

Which field gets solved

The two fields you touched most recently are treated as what you know; the third is calculated and refills itself. Typing a distance and a time gives you the pace. Editing that pace then gives you a new time, because distance and pace are now the two you supplied. Emptying a field is a way of saying "solve for this one".

Splits

The splits table is your passing times: how long each kilometer should take, and what the clock should read as you go through it. Because this calculator assumes one steady pace, every split is identical. That is the point of it. If your course has hills, the Advanced calculator prices each part separately and its splits will not be flat like these.

Pace scenarios

A finish time is rarely a single number you either hit or miss. This table shows what fifteen, thirty, or sixty seconds per kilometer either way does to it, which is usually the more useful way to hold a target: not "can I run 4:30" but "what does 4:45 cost me".

Training zones

The five zones are derived from the pace you have just calculated, on the assumption that it is close to your current race effort. Recovery and aerobic are the easy days that make up most of a sensible week; tempo and threshold are the sustained efforts; speed is for short repeats. They are a starting point calibrated to one number, not a training plan. If the pace you entered was a wish rather than a recent result, every zone inherits that.

Kilometers and miles

The toggle in the header converts everything on the page and is remembered between visits. What you typed is held underneath in kilometers, so switching back and forth returns the values you entered rather than drifting a little further each time.

What gets saved

"Remember values" keeps your inputs in this browser so the page comes back as you left it. Switching it off clears what was stored, including any race plan saved by the Advanced calculator. Clear empties the fields without changing the setting.
